Everly Resort Hotel Malacca it’s Save the Earth Campaign and Official Presenter for Miss. Malaysia Earth 2008 in conjunction with World Environment Day
Malacca, June 5th, 2008 – Yang Berhormat Datuk Seet Har Cheow,Chairman, Malacca State Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee, today officiates Save The Earth Campaign and Official Presenter for the Miss. Malaysia Earth 2008 in conjunction with World Environment Day at Everly Resort Hotel Malacca.
This event, which attracted over 50 participants, who participated in a beach cleaning and tree-planting ceremony. Led by the Malacca’s State Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee Chairman, with the participation of Everly Resort Hotel Malacca’s staff, committee members of the Miss Malaysia Earth 2008, local community, and various organizations in the vicinity.
The Save The Earth Campaign, and the Miss Malaysia Earth 2008, is launched in tandem with this year international theme of World Environment Day – “Kick the habit” Towards a Low Carbon Economy!, this is in relation to creating awareness and addressing the following concerns how to reduce climate change, on carbon emissions, saving water, climate clean up, watch our waste and many other environmental issues.

Water use has been growing at more than twice the rate of population increase in the last century, increasing number of regions are chronically short of water and people increasingly rely on water for development, the crisis is reaching global dimensions. We take water for granted, we squander it and yet over a billion people in the world lack safe water to drink and we even mess up our sources of water by cutting down catchments forest and polluting rivers with sewage, chemical waste and etc. We need to save water to address the problem.
Our Save The Earth Campaign aims to create awareness on conserving water and energy. Through our “Exchange Program” initiative, our hotel will contribute RM1.00, for all linens and towels that are not exchanged for washing by guests, for the day.

In this regard this will promote Malaysia at the Miss Earth 2008, World Final in Manila, Philippines this coming October 2008.
The Grand National Finals of Miss Malaysia Earth 2008, finalist will arrive at the hotel on the 3rd of July 2008. During their contest week the Miss Malaysia Earth participants will be involved in many activities, such as visits to environmental campaigns and fund raising events. The Grand National Finals will be held on the 12th of July 2008. Tickets of the Miss Malaysia Earth 2008 Grand National Finals will be sold at RM180.00 per head and may be purchased at the Hotel’s front desk.
